Drawing since the age of four, I have always had art as a part of my life. I grew up taking as many classes as I could in high school, and took as many as I could in college. I heavily focused in dry mediums, such as charcoals and pencils, but dabbled in the wet mediums such as acrylic paint and oil paint. I prefer oil to acrylic, but acrylic does have it's own draw to it. I have also dabbled in the CG medium, but find it difficult to work with. I did get a new program and a great tutorial book for Christmas, however, so I am excited to try them out and see where they take me!

It wasn't until I got my first real camera in December 2012 that I developed a passion for photography. Just starting out, I don't have a lot of experience, but I very much enjoy it. Taking these photos has inspired me to start my regular art again as well. It will be a long process, getting back into the art world, but I feel that it's a necessary progression for me at this point in my life. It will be a great distraction and a wonderful outlet for stress.

I hope you enjoy my work!

Wow.. I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted a Deviation or responded to any of my messages. I apologize for disappearing! OTL It's been crazy hectic here the past few weeks. Between appointments, my Gram going into the ICU (she's doing much better now), family coming up for a visit, preparing for surgery (which got rescheduled for August), and trying to keep up with college, it's been a nightmare. I do have a bunch of amazing photos to share with you all so I hope you keep checking back! Just need to find time to post them! I'm hoping to find time next week to post some of my new photographs, but if not it probably won't be until the second week of August. :( I will definitely make it a point to try and get some photos uploaded soon though! I only have a few more assignments to finish this week for homework, but I have 8 more assignments due Wednesday night, so it's going to be a pretty crazy week. Hopefully after I get those 8 assignments done, though, I'll be able to focus on going through my photos and posting some of them!

As an artist, I've always admired those who can work their magic on the computer with CG artwork. I've always been very traditional myself, preferring charcoals to any other medium. However, for Christmas my Mother bought me SmithMicro's Manga Studio EX4 and ImagineFX Manga tutorial book, which teaches digital painting techniques. While I've been itching to try them out, she also got me my Nikon Coolpix L810 and I've been experimenting with photography instead, feeling very nervous about trying my hand at CG work. I've dabbled in the past, but never really felt that I was equipped to work with it properly, so switched back to my traditional mediums that I'm very comfortable with.

Since starting my deviantART account, I've felt inspired to take a try at my new program and try some tips from the book. However, I cannot for the life of me draw with a mouse, I need a pen in hand. So this is my dilemma: What sort of tablet do I look into purchasing? I know there are many brands, many styles, many sizes, but I'm truly at a loss as to where to begin my search or what would be most beneficial! I know I would prefer a larger area to work with, preferably at least the size of a sheet of paper because I like the ability to work in either small areas, or large areas. I don't like being limited to small areas alone. I would prefer something on the lower end of the price range, because this is new and I don't want to invest a great deal until I know for certain I will be able to keep with it and get the hang of it. Yet at the same time, I want a quality tablet and not something that is going to make me hate CG work and frustrate me to the point where I say forget it.

So this is why I write this journal entry, hoping that my fellow artists can help me in my search! I look forward to hearing everyone's input, and I hope I will be able to find a tablet soon! I am very eager to try my hand at it and hopefully developing the skills to fully utilize it!
